What classes do you run and when?
Classes run every Monday in Oxford (Headington Quarry Hall) and every Thursday in Abingdon (Preston Road Community Centre) at the following times:
Beginners Burlesque 6pm-7pm
Contemporary 7pm-8pm
Mix ability burlesque 8pm-9pm

What is Burlesque?
Burlesque is a sensual, suggestive, sometimes bawdy or comedic dance style that can incorporate pantomime or striptease.
Attitude Dance School offer Neo-Burlesque dance classes with an emphasis on the dance. Routines are sexy rather than sexual and aim to promote confidence and empowerment.

What is Contemporary?
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.

Who can attend classes?
We aim to make our classes as inclusive as possible and are open to anyone over 18.

Do I need to book?
There is no need to book just come along and pay on the night, via card (we are cashless).

What should I wear to class?
Please wear something comfortable you can move easily in for all classes.
A pair of comfortable heels if you wish for the burlesque (trainers are more than fine if not) and a pair of ballet/jazz shoes if you have them for the contemporary (bare feet or socks if not).

How much do classes cost?
Classes are £7 per lesson or £6 per lesson if taking more than 1 class per week.

Are classes suitable for beginners?
Our contemporary is mixed ability with beginners joining all the time.
We have a specific beginners burlesque class but you are also welcome to attend the mixed ability class too.

I can’t attend the earlier burlesque class, can I attend the later one without experience?
Of course! The later class is mixed ability. We just work though routines a bit quicker than the earlier class but will always stop to explain if and when required.

Is the contemporary class suitable for beginners?
The contemporary class is mixed ability. Beginners are more than welcome.

Do I need to attend both Abingdon and Oxford classes?
No, although we run the same classes with the same routines in both locations you do not need to attend both classes although you are welcome to come to either or both whenever you would like.

I can’t attend all the time; can I still attend when I am able?
Classes run on a drop-in basis and are pay as you go, so you can attend whenever you like.
